compasses draw perfect curves
trying to sleep is like a thunderous roar and sometimes,
i feel like the world’s greatest rain storm. i’ve never idolized
anyone more than myself and it gives me tremors,
it makes me shiver. my backbone always seems to think
it’s December and i always catch myself in between seasons.
a boy told me one time “take it easy, life’s not all bad”
and i thought, then, that it must be all good dressed in bad things.
i wrote a letter to that same boy and the first line was
“we respond to overwhelming emotion with fear.”
maybe that’s why i’ve been shaking the way only epilepsy does.
